A hospitality designation for neighborhood businesses
A place to go. A place to be welcomed. A place to sit, connect, and stay awhile.
Senioritis is a Bay Area senior care platform serving Vietnamese, Filipino, and Hispanic families. Seniors Welcome Here is the part of our platform that works on the world outside the home — helping older adults get back into neighborhood life without turning a café or salon into a care setting.
The problem we are addressing
Aging in place has become, for many older adults, aging indoors. A person can receive good care at home and still not leave the block for weeks. Social isolation carries measurable harm, and nothing in the current care landscape addresses it.
How it works
- Neighborhood businesses — restaurants, cafés, bakeries, salons, and more — commit publicly to four standards of hospitality toward older customers.
- Businesses that meet the standard display a decal and are listed in the Senioritis app.
- A participating business may set aside seats for older customers and make them reservable. An older adult who reserves a seat is a customer of that business, purchasing hospitality: a seat held for the whole window, a hot drink, and a welcoming place to spend an afternoon.
Four standards of hospitality
- A place to sit down
- Time to complete a transaction without pressure
- Staff who speak the customer's language, where available
- A restroom available without asking twice
What this is not
Stated plainly, so families and businesses share the same understanding.
- Not care
- No business assists with medications, toileting, bathing, dressing, eating, mobility, or any health-related service.
- Not supervision
- No employee is assigned to any older customer. No business observes, monitors, accompanies, or tracks a customer, or controls her movements.
- Not an adult day program
- No business holds itself out as providing care and supervision.
- Not a substitute for a caregiver
- Where an older adult needs care, Senioritis provides caregivers through a separate service.
Who can reserve a seat on their own
A solo reservation is limited to older adults who can be present in a public commercial setting without supervision. We screen at intake and exclude anyone with significant cognitive impairment, wander risk, inability to summon help, unmanaged fall risk, or any need for monitoring or assistance during the visit.
- Significant cognitive impairment
- Wander risk
- Inability to summon help
- Unmanaged fall risk
- Any need for monitoring or assistance during the visit
The family confirms all five eligibility statements for every booking, including when a relative or another helper accompanies the guest. Only a separately booked Companion Plus satisfies the alternative in the eligibility gate. A family member is not a substitute.

Rules for participating businesses
- Participating businesses may not solicit an older customer for anything beyond their ordinary goods and services.
- Businesses may not collect personal or financial information from older customers beyond what is needed for an ordinary transaction.
- Businesses may not provide care or supervision even when a family asks for it.
- Violation ends participation permanently.
Where responsibility sits
- Responsibility remains with the family and with any caregiver the family engages. It is not transferred to the business and is not assumed by Senioritis.
- The reservation records who booked the seat and for what window. Nobody records when she arrives or leaves, and no one is asked to watch for either.
- A business owes an older customer the duty it owes any customer, and no more.
Why businesses join
- Welcome returning, loyal customers during slower hours
- Reach families in your neighborhood who discover your business through reservations
- Join at no subscription fee — the rate is the same at every host, and you know your payout before you accept a booking
Reserved hospitality
- Families reserve a seat in a 60, 90 or 120 minute block. The rate is set by Senioritis and is the same at every host: $25 an hour, of which your business receives $20.
- Anything the customer chooses to buy beyond the seat is an ordinary sale. Your business keeps all of it — Senioritis takes no share.
- No required senior discount or special menu, and nothing to negotiate: you cannot be asked for a lower rate and you cannot bid for placement.
